anakbayanla:

Catch the first-ever episode of Anakbayan LA Radio next Friday, February 3rd from 8-9:30pm at ustream.tv/channel/anakbayanla!
We’re stepping it up for 2012! This is the beginning of our monthly radio show that will air every 1st Friday.
We’ll have our very own Anakbayan LA DJ’s spinning live sets of progressive music on the 1’s and 2’s. In between DJ sets, we’ll have political discussions sharing our analysis on current issues that affect us all locally, nationally, and internationally.
We’re also keeping our ears to the streets with interviews featuring youth, workers, community organizers, and everyday people breaking down what’s really going on in the community and the world. And on occasion, you might catch a live performance sometime during the show…
For our first show, we’ll be discussing the fascist NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) that took away everyone’s constitutional right to a fair trial, the groundbreaking People’s State of the City event happening in Long Beach on February 29th, as well as our current campaigns for the California Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, Justice 4 Melissa Roxas, and US Troops Out of the Philippines.
It’s gonna be a fresh 90 minutes every month that you don’t wanna miss.  Tell all your friends and let’s chop it up in the chatroom…
Serve the people!

When George Lucas complained publicly about the fact that he had to finance his own film because Hollywood executives told him they didn’t know how to market a black film, no one called him a fanatic. But when Spike Lee says it, he’s a racist militant and a malcontent.

But there’s a deeper, even more critical element here, because it’s the same old story: Nothing in this world happens unless white folks says it happens. And therein lies the problem of being a professional black storyteller- writer, musician, filmmaker.

What does this picture tell you? My doctor has had this “processed food” on her counter ever since 2010 and 2011 respectively. I asked her why she had it out, she stated “to show people what they are putting into their bodies”. This is man-made “processed food”, not real food. Over time real food will decay, grow mold and produce a decomposing odor. This “processed food” has not done any of that, matter of fact it has kept it’s original size, shape and texture. Your body has to work harder to breakdown and digest this stuff over real food. Since I’ve seen this, I have not had any fast food. #tyingtolivebetterin2012
